RECENT COMMENTARY ON TREVOR LEWIS

Report from I.B.M. Convention, Los Angeles

Trevor Lewis triumphantly commanded the next to closing spot, winning roars of laughter with his lines and antics involving (believe it or not) the Linking Rings and Peter Pit, who was called upon to adjust the microphone, remove unnecessary rings, and added considerably to the fun. His inspired choice of the perfect young man for his card stab routine, and his perfect handling of the lad, added up to yet another delightful, laugh filled routine. He was the hit of a very strong show.

Friday's lecture opened with the Welsh wizard, Trevor Lewis, whose comical antics make him a delight to watch. His appearance in the Thursday evening stage show proved his ability as an entertainer and his knowledge of how to work with children.

His lecture focused on entertaining children with several great routines, including one with a change bag and silks and another group participation idea with a dozen kids and a string of beads. His flashlight throw-a-way was very funny as he unscrewed a non-functioning flashlight only to discover that it didn't have batteries but came on anyway while apart. Trevor's lecture was a great addition to the Convention. Trevor Lewis, and Gene Anderson, are two of the most professional of all part-time pros. Like Gene, Trevor carefully considers every action and every word of his performance for maximum impact, both with his magic and his one-liners. A F.I.S.M. award-winner in cards, Trevor bounded into the room and immediately took charge with a Six Card Repeat gag followed by an excellent Six Card Repeat routine replete with gags. He told me later that he would rather see laughter on faces than confusion. He closed with a superb Egg Bag routine and was gone with no clean up leaving behind only warm feelings, bafflement & good humour.

Report on Abbotts Convention

Thursday evening offered Trevor Lewis as emcee and an act. He was superb at both, although he sang two songs with special lyrics and did not get a standing ovation as he did in Los Angeles after one. His Card Stabbing routine with a youngster was outstanding. Close up on Friday afternoon featured Mr Jupiter, Trevor Lewis, John Rogers and George Shindler, all professionals, all giving solid performances in difficult conditions.

Kidabra report. I had folks comment that you put them in the clouds Tuesday night and they stayed there for the rest of the week. Doesn't get any better than that!

Report on I.B.M. Convention, Orlando

Trevor Lewis then sauntered on stage to charm with a melodious dogrel especially composed for the occasion based on the song "Falling in Love." I've never heard him better. After that warm fuzzy, he got the show off to a rousing start. Trevor then recruited a somewhat shy but obviously delighted-to-be-there youngster from the audience and performed his charming and funny card stabbing routine. Trevor's balloon blowing competition with Bobby was both funny and pleasing because Bobby wins much to Trevor's apparent surprise and chagrin. Bobby was rewarded with a balloon giraffe and stage money and Trevor with a great round of applause. Trevor returned with a stand-up comedy routine about the marital situation that even had his wife chuckling as both partners in the relationship were "made sport of" in ways that elicited warm laughter from the audience. Trevor's delivery and timing gets the maximum out of each well-thought-out line. Trevor surely is one of the top magical MC's in the world.
